Mosquito Net for Dengue Prevention

In 2024 many of our students were hospitalized with severe dengue, which can be deadly, especially if left untreated.  Many parents can't even afford the busfare to a medical clinic.  

Students often miss weeks of school when they are ill.  

El Guapinol is a remote fishing community located on the southern coast of Honduras.  Here, infection rates are high due to standing water.  

Mosquitos are found year around but are especially prevalent during the rainy season (May-October).

Mosquito nets (which are treated with insecticides) can be an effective strategy to reduce likelihood of infection.
